Real Simple Pear Tart

You all know how much I love tarts. I LOVE tarts. I love trying tart recipes and this one seemed too easy to be true. It was so quick, no chilling of the dough - it seemed impossible. This recipe is not mine - it's out of an old issue of Real Simple magazine, but it's so easy - you have to try it!

Real Simple Pear Tart

1/2 cup unsalted butter, cubed

no-cal butter spray

1 cup flour

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 cup sugar + 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar

1 egg

2 pears, sliced lengthwise

1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon

1/3 cup apricot jam

1 tablespoon lemon juice (fresh)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a tart pan with no-cal butter spray. You know the drill. Start with the dough. Mix the butter, baking powder, 1/2 cup sugar, flour, and egg with your hands until evenly distributed. Push into pan to form crust.

Place pear slices in the tart pan, sprinkle with cinnamon and rest of sugar, bake 45 minutes.

Heat apricot jam and lemon juice in a small pan over low heat.

The tart will be perfect at 45 minutes, wait a few minutes, then brush with apricot-lemon mixture and let cool.

  1. I like this so much that I'm going to run home right now and bake it.

  2. I can personally attest to this tart's tastiness. A wonderful gift for say, a boyfriend.

  3. This looks delicious Fathi....
